the shadow surrounding the front lemon, if adjusted with more lighter tones, would be more realistic
I love Shirley's dynamic brush work that creates musical movement on her painting. I may make a few suggestions which may improve her painting:
1. Prospective composition, drawing, or arrangemetn of forms in fore, middle and background will improve the depth of painting and make it more interesting and exciting.
2. I like the relationship of colors in this painting but use of more high key in the forms and in negative space will improve the volume of form and 3-dimensional illusion of forms.
3. Excellent brush work generates 2ndary planes well in the forms but primary plane in each form need to be enhanced with more use of high key in her color scheme.
I love this still life of Shirley's. The way she modeled tea pot is so striking to me. I sort of feel like the bottle is getting lost back there, but i like the mysterious aspect of it. Also the vibrant red in the front looks great, and toy even brought a good amount of it into the teapot.
