Shadows and diagonals make this a much stronger piece than #3. I would like to see the size of the red fruit exaggerated to reconfirm its placement on the picture plane. By having a small fruit out front without overlap, painting tends to flatten & lose its 3-D impact.
The green apples look really three dimensional and life like. The red apple feels kind of out of place.
